Tobacco Modern Barn

No items found.

The client, an artist, desired a space that would be filled with soft, filtered light. In response, we drew inspiration from traditional tobacco barn architecture to design a home that seamlessly blends contemporary aesthetics with natural light. The house is conceived as a glass structure enveloped in wood louvers, which are parametrically designed to control the flow of light within.

At the heart of the home is a striking double-height space, open on both sides to two distinct pools: a leisure swimming pool to the south and a reflective pool to the north, where sculptures are displayed, and moments of meditation are nurtured. The gable end of the house can be fully opened with bifold vertical doors, creating a fluid transition between the interior and the surrounding gardens. This design blurs the boundaries between inside and outside, fostering an in/out lifestyle that is deeply connected to nature.
